2003 pathfinder fuel sending unit
Hi first post here. My fuel gauge is stuck on full with check engine light on. Code is pulling p0465. I have replaced the fuel sending unit already but it doesn't seem to have worked. Check engine light came back on and the gauge still reads full.

Could this be an electrical issue with the sensor heading out of the fuel sending unit? If so what is the best way to check.

Also just a general question. There were two hoses coming from the unit. One was marked yellow and one red. The red hose carried fuel as a little came out when I removed. What is the yellow hose? Is this the vent line for the tank? Can anyone provide a schematic of the 03 Pathfinder fuel system?

Any help appreciated

RE: 2003 pathfinder fuel sending unit
The code comes back as "mass air purge sensor" which is probably their name for the gadget allowing fuel vapor to be burned off to reduce emissions. This would not be related to the sending unit itself.

The tank still showing full is either going to be a problem with the dash gauge or a shorted wire between the tank and dash, which may be related to the code showing if the wires are in the same harness.

This is where some good detective work may come in handy. My first look at anything like this would be to find any signs of old collision damage, which may point to an old repair or undetected damage that has finally come to a head due to chaffing, misrouting, or improperly securing things.

As with all injected engines, the first line is fuel supply and second line is for fuel return. Typically there's third line for vapor recovery, which may be elsewhere on the tank or on the filler neck.

Let us know what you find and we can post more.

The first thing that I would do is check all of the fuses. From there I'm with Rupe on looking for a damaged wire, corrosion, damaged, melted, or corroded plug connector, corroded, loose or broken ground wire.

Please let us know what you find.
