01 CRV hatch air spring rplcmnt
Greetings, I need to replace the air springs that (used to) hold up the rear hatch on my 2011 CRV. The Oreilly's guy said "It's easy" (so I knew I was in trouble) "there'll be a clip you pop with a screwdriver or a pin you push out".
So I've cleaned the oil off the ends of the driver side cylinder and they look like spheres with one side cut off for the stud (that goes into the headliner or attaches to the glass) with a tiny dimple on the end. No clip or torx or pin that I can see, how should I be squinting to see that? (Or maybe how do I get the old ones off). -Boyd

I have never personally done one on a Honda but having the new one in hand should give you a clue. They should come as either the type that have a socket for a ball or perhaps the ball is already on the assembly and there's a threaded stud. There is one more type and that has "eye holes" that snap over the ball, which is mounted on the car.

This is not a CRV but should be similar
