2006 S60 Volvo Flickering Headlight
The low beam passenger side headlight has a mind of its own. There is no telling when or under what conditions the headlight will suddenly turn off. The dashboard message will indicate low beam failure. This happens in positions one and three. The running lights in the number two position are always on. Sometimes when the light goes out, I can switch from one to three or vice versa and the light will come on. I've already replaced the bulb socket. That seemed to help for several weeks. Its now back to on again, off again. Recently the headlight stayed out for over two days (I began to think the bulb had blown) (this bulb is approximately three months old), but then inexplicably the light turned on again.

I have also found that sometimes the warning display comes on regarding the low beam failure when the light is actually on.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this matter. I can no longer drive this car at night!

RE: 2006 S60 Volvo Flickering Headlight
Electrical issues are such that there's only a couple of ways to diagnose them. The first is if you can examine the various parts of the system while the problem is happening and find the fault. The second is *IF* you get lucky and stumble on something that doesn't look right then fix it.

That said, you should at least take a gander at the fuse box and relay center as most newer cars have separate circuits for left vs right. Pull out the fuses and reinstall them or swap the relays from left to right and see what happens over a few days. You may get lucky and see the problem switch sides or find some connection that is not tight. Has the car ever had any body work where they may have done wiring repairs? Examine the wiring harness for signs of an old fix. (extra electrical tape is a sure sign)
