Need to reconnect ECU wires, but many are same colors
1995 Nissan Pickup XE, 2.4L, Manual, 190k miles, Eastern Tennessee

A while back I was thoroughly cleaning the interior of my truck cab when I made the stupid mistake of thinking the ECU was an audio amp or something. I was a bit intoxicated at the time, and just didn't really give it any thought, and i just cut the wires. It was then that I realized what I had done. So I began trying to splice the wires back together. My problem is that many of the wires are colored the same. For example, I think there were six or more pink wires. I don't know which goes to which, so I'm asking for any advice on how to determine or trace them in some way. I don't want to damage anything, assuming I haven't already. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all!

Chvck

To find out for sure you may want to visit an older established dealer and see if they have a paper manual that you can photo copy a wiring diagram. That would also require test probing each wire from the source to make sure you got the right one in the correct location on the ECM plug. The next best thing would be to scrounge the junk yards or eBay for a complete harness.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. Using the wiring diagram and a multimeter or test probe kit is probably what I'll end up doing. Trying to trace them all down is going to be a major task. I kick myself every day for what I did. Wish a fool luck! Thanks again!

Good luck!

BTW, would strongly suggest you solder each splice as crimp connections can get cruddy in a few years. If you are not good at soldering then at least get some dilectric grease to coat each connection before crimping it.
