Intake manifold gaskets/2002 Lincoln Continental 4.6
I bought an intake manifold gasket set for this Lincoln - they also sold me a Intake Plenum Gasket set (8 parts) - the only trouble is I don't know where the Plenum gasket set is supposed to go.

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

RE: Intake manifold gaskets/2002 Lincoln Continental 4.6
I haven’t actually done one of those; but in most instances, it will become obvious as you start taking it apart. You should really have a manual so you know what torque spec.s & tightening sequences to use. That manual would show you where everything goes. If you don’t want to get the manual; usually available at the parts store, there are a bunch of videos that might help. Just search "How to replace the intake gasket on a 2002 Lincoln Continental 4.6." One of them might even provide the spec.s along with the other information that you need.

If you have more questions feel free to ask. I’m sure that someone here has done one of those.

Thanks for using the forum,
Garner

I haven't done one of those either but using all the gaskets in the set will depend on WHY you are doing the job. If it's a coolant leak then there's a good chance you will only use the longer gaskets that go on the lower section along the heads. The other gaskets would be for the top section of the manifold, which in some cases are made like a giant formed o-ring and set into a groove against plastic surfaces.

Note: composit manifolds (read: plastic) are fairly fragile and the torque specs are WAY lower than you think. Be carefull when snugging bolts!

Here's a selection of YouTube videos to watch how the job is done.
