2006 Sebring temperature sensor
I am removing the temperature sensor from a 2006 Sebring and the bushing is spinning. How can I remove the sensor?

RE: 2006 Sebring temperature sensor
Going from memory I believe the sensor has a shoulder on it and the bushing (as you call it) is actually a retaining nut that holds the sensor in place. If you have the new part in hand perhaps you can verify that?

no there is not a shoulder. The metal piece that the sensor threads into is mounted flush in the Coolant Outlet Housing. you can see an image at http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/WC/1...ArCP8P8HAQ

RE: 2006 Sebring temperature sensor
You will likely have to replace the whole housing. If the bushing is spinning in the plastic it will likely develop a leak. The fact that they sell the whole housing with the sensor and bleeder almost indicates that the problem that you are having is a common one. Please let us know how things turn out.

I was afraid I would hear this as the cost and work involved increases by a factor of 4

Sorry about that. When you said "bushing" I had a completely different visual in mind. I would have to agree with Garner in that the bushing is likely to leak or worse, which is why that housing is available in the aftermarket.
