99 Elantra alternator?
My car the clock went out and the car was loosing power till it finally stopped on the side of the road. I'm thinking alternator. now would it be possible to put an alternator from a 92 Plymouth voyager on it?

RE: 99 Elantra alternator?
No you can not put a plymouth altenator on a hyundaii elantra. A simple test is to completely charge the battery. When you get the car up and running remove the cables from the battery. If the car keeps running with the battery removed then you have a bad battery. If the car dies as soon as you remove the battery then you have a bad alternator. The battery only has 2 jobs to do and that is to supply the starter with the innetial juice to start it. And also to help run the accessories.

Yet another problem with it the gauge lights are not working any suggestions? checked all the inside fuse and replaced 2 blown ones but the light still don't come on. Even changed 2 of the illumination bulbs and it still no light. had to strap a head lamp on the steering column to see the gauges at night

RE: 99 Elantra alternator?
Have you solved the batery charging problem yet? Quite often multiple issues like this are related.

What I am driving at is a bad connection or poor ground will not show up as a blown fuse, but then you did replace a couple of fuses so what were they connected to? (and are they blown again?)

RE: 99 Elantra alternator?
took off the old alt. and it wouldn't even test at the parts store. but it was probably about 16 years old. looked like it was the factory one. my battery was good just drained had it recharged and have a new alt on it.
