what is this?
hi all,a friend sent me a pic of something hanging underneath the front passenger area of her 07 Mitsubishi outlander,any ideas?I'm an hour away from her otherwise I'd crawl under n follow the cable/wire loom.

If it's outside the frame rail and close to the suspension my first guess is it's a ride height sensor for a load leveling system. If that's the case then the signal is not correct and the vehicle will not sit properly. IOW, the pressure in the air shocks (or whatever they use) will will also not be correct so one end will be high or low. (provided the rest is working)
The clue is the "ball" (on the right) of a ball & socket for some sort of linkage connected to the suspension arm. Also guessing that the two holes will line up with a mount within reach of the electrical cable. More than likely the linkage rod will be missing and will need to be replaced. BTW, those things don't just fall out. Has there been any recent work on the car where someone might have needed to disconnect things? (body work, shocks, etc) Let us know what you find as it may help others reading here. |
