Good pictures and I'd have to say that manifold must have been rough when you started.

Suggestion: Get that vehicle back in for another oil change in a thousand miles or so to get the rest of that coolant vapor out of there. Also look to see if there's any metal on the magnetic drain plug.

BTW, thanks for the follow up. Others reading here can learn something from your effort.

I went for a 20 mile test drive. Then he took it for 3 hours steady drive. Returned and we changed the oil and filter again. Bunch of metal on the plug, but it was black crud and chips, from the head and block surfaces that got rinsed down through the valley I'm sure. I told him when he changes it again, pay close attention to what's on the plug and hopefully he won't be seeing much metal. And in the meantime, keep checking oil and coolant constantly.
