Coolant Engine Temp after Off
Hello -

1995 GMC 4.3 L V6 Jimmy
New Long Block installed completed Spring 2014.
Vehicle had been sitting in storage after putting 3,000 miles on New Long Block. Stored due to Personal Preference.

Question :
Running One Electric Radiator Cooling Fan with Fan placed on Engine side of radiator.

Should I be of concern that the Coolant Temp guage in dash shoots up to 235 degree F after turning engine off ??? Normal Operating Running Temp I read on this guage is 195 - 210 degree F.
Yes, It it is the hottest section of Summer here.

RE: Coolant Engine Temp after Off
That's called "after boil" and is fairly common. If you like you can wire that fan "hot all the time" so it can run after the engine is shut off, which is also common enough. Not that the slightly high temp will cause any serious issues but that will help resolve vapor lock on warn days when you run into a store for 10 minutes. IOW, hot restart could be an issue. Your choice, but it't worth considering.
