99 elantra wagon license plate lamps
It's me again. My plate light are not working right. I changed the bulbs and the lights only come on when the door is partially open. Any Ideas on how to fixe this beside driving with the hatch open at night so I don't get pulled over. cheapest fix would be greatly appreciated. just spent alot of money fixing the brakes and tires. Thanks for your all help!

RE: 99 elantra wagon license plate lamps
Every car I have ever worked on has the LP lights tied to the tail lights, so my first guess is you have a bum connection along the harness against the rear. What I'd do is remove the interior trim cover (hatch back, right?) and follow the wires, checking for both ground and hot all the way to the lamp assembly. Good chance the ground wire is at fault, seeing as it seems to come on when the switch for the interior light adds it's ground. Worst case is you can run a couple of new wires to one of the tail lights. (make sure it's not the brake lights)

Let us know what you find as it may help someone else reading here.
