RE: 95 New Yorker quit running
new belt, new tensioner pulley, got everything lined up, changed the water pump while I had it apart also because their only good for about 2 yrs I've learned since I owned the car, (design flaw I guess), turned the key and fired right up, all this time I could have sworn it was the computer or a bad wire, it's a pain in the ass to pull that front cover of the engine, but well worth the effort, hope this info helps someone else out, thanks for all the input from everyone, good luck in future endeavors.

RE: 95 New Yorker quit running
Guess we all learned something, and that would be changing all the "hard parts" when doing a cam belt so they don't cause the new belt to fail prematurely.

At any rate, thanks for sharing the final fix as it may help others reading here!

BTW, read an article on that water pump stating the OEM impeller is plastic and does wear down via the fine particles floating around in the coolant. The same article also said not to worry about it unless there's an overheating issue where the normal fixes don't do the job.... or if it springs a leak. Perhaps the replacement is metal? Either way it's probably a good idea to slush the system every few years to ward off problems.

Thanks for posting the "Fix." So few people take the time to finish the story. This one holds a very valuable lesson that may help others! Please stop by anytime!

RE: 95 New Yorker quit running
FYI, they sell a kit with all the parts needed, pulley, tensioner, belt and water pump.

RE: 95 New Yorker quit running
Thanks for pointing that out Ed. It's actually becoming the new norm to buy a kit instead of just the belt and it makes everything easier for the DIY guy.
