Fuel temperature sensor
I own a 2005 lincoln town car, signature series with 118000 miles on it. Check engine light on throwing out a code of P0183 only. This code sayes :fuel temperature sensor is not happy. I have called eight parts outfits and four lincoln/ford dealers and not one of them could tell me where this sensor is located or supply me with a part number. Very strange to say the least.

I hope someone can shed some light on this problem. Thanks, schaffer78.

RE: Fuel temperature sensor
Just a little background info to think on before jumping the gun here. This sensor compares fuel temp (and sometimes ethanol mix) to ambient or intake air temp so if one of those inputs is off by a bit that MIGHT throw a false code. OTOH, since these sensors are commonly in the fuel rail (pipes going to the injectors) it may also be subject to minor leakage, and therefore a cruddy harness connection. My first suggestion would be to use a scan tool to read the other inputs (live data) and then clear all codes to see if it comes back. IOW, might be totally bogus and possibly caused by some fuel contamination that has already been consumed and no longer in the tank.

Poking around the web I see these are available for $15 - $20. Try a site like Rock Auto to view the part so you know what you are looking for.

Let us know how you make out as it may help others reading here.
