RE: "HELP" I have gas in my oil???
Problems like this are typically due to leaking injectors (after shut down) or a WAY over rich condition while driving. A rich condtion will usually cause a check engine light issue.

If you put a good fuel pressure tester on this it should hold most of the fuel pressure over night. That would be my first test.

Seeing as the car is 26 years old I'd try several tanks of injector cleaner and lean toward the old fuel making the injectors sticky.

Hi Rupe, Thanks foer the reply, the car has a throttle body, only two injectors on top of it, I can see they are not leaking, also as I said I have had it in the gerage for I would say two years now, I do not drive it, I am restoreing it as it was the last full size two door made, what a car, anyway Thanks so much for your reply, God Bless

Let me rephrase my question...... how far "over full" was the oil?

When you smell "a lot of gas" could it be a pungent odor of stale gas that's turning bad? IOW, if it's been in there for a few years it will start to smell like varnish and it only takes a small amout of fuel to do that.

RE: "HELP" I have gas in my oil???
Boy I am not doing a very good job with this, let me try again, the gas in the car is not old, at most five weeks, next when I checked the oil, it was atleast one inch or 1 1/2 inches over full, when I drained the oil what was in my drain pan was blk like oil, BUT was very very thin, not like oil and smell of gas it had the oil very weak, the gas got in the oil, I just can not figer out how. Thanks again for your trouble

RE: "HELP" I have gas in my oil???
OK, lets start from scratch. The car has not been driven for a long time so I suspect the engine has also not been run for a long time. If the oil has been in there for a few years and the gas that was in the oil is stale it may be a leftover from a previous issue and not be related to the age of the gas in the tank.

Now for the practical side of things..... the gas didn't get there by itself so that leaves a limited number of ways for it to be there. Seeing as it's an older car with a fairly simple injection system it's pretty much narrowed down to whatever is mounted on the throttle body (injectors and pressure regulator) or as a long shot the purge valve for the carbon canister could be sucking raw fuel from the tank via the vent line. For this to happen the engine must run rather rich.

One more thought (a long shot) is if you are tinkering with the car while running a battery charger it may cause the injectors to pluse without the engine running.

RE: "HELP" I have gas in my oil???
The car has not been driven over the road for awile, but I have taken it out of the garage and drove it around the yard a bit to keep the oil moveing and oiling everything, it always ran fine, BUT the last couple times I want to start it I recall it seem to take a bit longer to start, as if it had to build up the fuel pressure, could it be that the fuel pressure regulator drops its fuel in the oil wile sitting and had to wait for the fuel pump to fill it back up to start,?? Thanks again for your time Sir.
