Audi A4 Oil Low Light Indicator
I have a 2003 Audi A4 with a 3.0 engine. For awhile now, the "low oil" indicator light has been coming on about 3,000 miles after an oil change. My mechanic says it might be a clogged oil line which needs to be replaced and may cost around $300. The dealer says it might be an oil leak but can't say for sure until they look at it. The reason there is no oil in the driveway, they say, is becuase there is an oil pan on audi's that catch the oil. What do you think?

RE: Audi A4 Oil Low Light Indicator
What do "I" think? I don't know if that vehicle has a "catch" pan or not & it really doesn't matter. I would open the hood and check the dip stick. That will tell you how low the oil is. If it is only down a quart, that is about normal for three thousand miles. Refer to the owners manual for proper procedure. You usually park on a level surface, engine off, & transmission in Park. Pull the stick out, wipe it off, put it the whole way back in, pull it out, & check the level.

Let us know what you find.

RE: Audi A4 Oil Low Light Indicator
You may find that reading the owner's manual will explain what that light is for. IOW, maybe not low oil level but low oil life... time for an oil change. That's getting to be a common feature on cars these days. Certainly worth a few mnutes of your time to thumb through the book and possibly finding an easy solution.
