2001 Jetta will not start
2001 VW Jetta, 2.0 gasoline engine, automatic, 150,000 miles located in Washington state.
Car cranks, but won't stay running. Also has an odor of gasoline. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? |

RE: 2001 Jetta will not start
If you can smell gas I would first check for leaks. If there are no leaks I would guess that you have a “Flooding” situation. That can be caused by a lot of things. You might get lucky and do a scan and come up with some clues as to why. Record all of the code NUMBERS and post them here and have the codes cleared. If codes return you will know that they are current. Also check the motor oil to see if it is over full and/or smells like gas. A leaking injector could put gas into the crankcase, thin the oil, and cause you to loose the engine.
