RE: PT Cruiser power steering pressure switch
Just raise the vehicle and safely support it. The switch is on the steering rack. Just unplug it and then unscrew it.

Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds.

RE: PT Cruiser power steering pressure switch
It's a small sensor / switch mounted on the steering rack near where the pressure hoses attach. It's got a 2 wire plug on it as well. Once you have the new one in hand you will see how it's attached and the wrench size needed. Be prepared to catch a bit of PS fluid even if you work quick as it will drool out of the fitting.

This switch tells the engine computer there is pressure being exerted, which means more engine load, which it turn means there's a minor adjustment made to the idle speed to keep things smooth while parking and during other slow speed operations.

The price of a new switch is in the mid $30 range.

RE: PT Cruiser power steering pressure switch
just replaced the pressure switch yesterday... it was leaking ps fluid onto the pressure hoses and the floor...but did not make a error code. the seal between the pressure side and the electrical side failed and the oil was leaking around the electric pins of the connector.

02 PT Cruiser...75,000 miles.
