2000 Kia Sephia reading incorrect gear ratio 2
I hooked my fiances 2000 Kia Sephia upto a Snap On OBD scan tool and got a code saying "Incorrect Gear Ratio 2." I asked my brother who is a mechanic himself and hes not to familiar with Kia's. Any good help opinions would be very helpful. I'm in between trading the Kia Sephia for my buddys 96 Jeep Cherokee Trail Rated so I have a parts Cherokee for my Cherokee which is drivin daily and is off road 4-wheelin alot. So I'd very much appreciate any info that anyone has. Thanks

RE: 2000 Kia Sephia reading incorrect gear ratio 2
An incorrect gear ratio code can mean a couple of things depending on the code NUMBER. You could simply have a faulty speed sensor, a wiring problem, or the transmission isn't shifting properly. The code is saying that the engine isn't turning at the proper RPMs for the speed of the vehicle. If you can post all of the code NUMBERS here we may be able to give you better advice. Record ALL of the NUMBERS even if you don't think that they are relevant, post All of them, & then clear the computer.

Ya but theres alot more then just that. The battery always has to be charged or it dies. It needs a tune up bad. Front brakes and rotors. I just honestly think that the Kia is gonna be like our last few vehicles where 1 thing goes then other things start to break, and I was always replacing parts on them. My Jeep Ive gotten stuck in a mud pit n had to leave it over night in water. Came back next day to pull it out and it fired right up. I just like american cars better then foreign cars. So I'm stuck in a tough decision then I guess...

I really can't make those kind of decisions for you. You asked what the code meant so I told you. You can debate the "quality" of vehicles forever and different people will have different opinions. I prefer American Made because I live in & work in America. However, I would guess that brake pads, rotors, and a battery would cost a whole lot less than one day mudding.

RE: 2000 Kia Sephia reading incorrect gear ratio 2
Its not all about the four wheeling. I just like having the luxury of four wheel drive, especially in the snow because I live in CT and it makes me feel better knowing that my girl and my son are safe during the winter because winter time I'm out plowing or shoveling. Idk its just stressful, but thank you for your help anyway though. Atleast I have a few leads to start at thanks to you. Much appreciated...
