2005 elantra rear brake drums
2005 Hyundai elentra cant seem to get rear brake drums off to check brake shoes. There is a phillips screw visible on the outside but did not want to loosen for fear of disconnecting something on inside and really messing it up.

RE: 2005 elantra rear brake drums
I personally have never seen anything hooked to the inside of a brake drum. Anytime I have seen a screw or clip on the brake drum it was installed at the factory to keep the drums from falling off as the chassis rolls over on the assembly line. Once the wheels are bolted on the drum can no longer come off so the screws or clips don‘t even need to be reinstalled. Just remember that I said “Screws” & “Clips.” I have seen drums that are held on with bolts or nuts and then the wheel is bolted to the drum. These MUST be reinstalled and set to the proper torque as they hold the wheels in place.

Please let us know what you find as it could help others.
