Will the engine turn over? Why did you replace the battery and thermostat? Does it have a add-on alarm system?

If the car has an add-on alarm system, it may go to a default setting when the battery is disconnected and you would need a remote to disarm it. Is there a small red LED light installed in the dash area around the steering column? That is normally a sign of an add-on alarm. Ask the people you got the car from.

The reason I was concerned about the possable alarm system was because I got the impression it started after the battery was replaced. But below is a picture of the starting curcuit. Possable ignition switch, PRNDL switch. You would have to take a test light and trace the voltage for the ignition switch and see were you lose it.
