RE: 2000 Chevy Tahoe a/c noises
Well guys, it ended up being the ac drive belt. While I was at it, I changed the main drive belt as well since I had it off.

When I checked the drive belts initially, they both looked just fine. The main drive belt actually didn't need changing, so I kept the one I took off as a back up. The ac belt on the other hand was about to disintegrate. On first inspection I didn't see any obvious wear on the belt. The labeling on the belt was actually in better shape than the main, but the inner side was a different story.

Looking at the belt from above AND below I couldn't see much wear or damage until I bumped the motor. It turned far enough to where I could see one section was severely cracked.

For all of the horrible noises, it ended up being a $25 belt..........

Sometimes it pays to look at basics first, just so you don't complicate matters.

At any rate, glad you found the issue and I am sure others can learn from your experience!
