Possible Transmission problem
Lexus ES300 1996
automatic transmission
well maintained, no leaks, proper fluid levels, no warning lights.

Sporadically the car will drive 'heavy.'  Even at high rpms it will not pick up speed.  This usually happens when the car has come to a stop or if traffic requires a real slow speed.  It seems to be as if the transmission is not shifting past 2cd gear.  Restarting the car sometimes makes the problem disappear.

RE: Possible Transmission problem
A relative had a similar prob . Ended up being a sticky valve in valve body. This was found during a mega-buck rebuild . I would try a trans additive first , Trans-x & Trans-Medic are two that I've had luck with. Might work ,might not , but wont hurt to try.
