get this, the gauge only goes up when I am moving it actually starts acting like the speedometer. so maybe the gauge wire is grounding to the speedometer wire because there is no way the car is heating up that fast and then the temp goes back down when the car is stopped. Has this ever happened to anyone else before?

Who did the head gasket? The reason I ask is because anyone can do a head gasket but if it's not done right it won't last.
