2001 Jeep grand cherokee starting issues
I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 4.0 auto...145,000. Runs and drives great. Plenty of power. When you start it, it takes 3 to 4 times longer than it should to start. Starter turns the motor over great. When it starts it idles rough for a few seconds then everything is fine. I hope I worded this correctly. Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks

RE: 2001 Jeep grand cherokee starting issues
Long cranking times tells me to look for low fuel pressure after sitting for a period. (leaking check valve within the pump?) I would start with checking the actual pressure reaching the engine and leave the gauge on for a bit. If the pressure doesn't hold for several hours at say within 10 PSI of running pressure then you are looking at replacing the pump assembly.

Let us know how you make out.

Glad to hear it.

You should double check the oil for fuel dilution as that leaking injector put the fuel somewhere other than out the tail pipe.

BTW, a fuel pressure test might have shown that leaking injector, which is where I was going if you came back with more info. At any rate, always good to hear the final outcome as others may learn from your experience.

RE: 2001 Jeep grand cherokee starting issues
amjadhussair,

Please read the "Forum Announcements" to learn how to make a good post that will help us to help you. From there, please start a new thread to separate your vehicle from the one above.

Please include information about your engine that could be helpful. Does it have a distributor? If it does you could have a bad Distributor Cap, Bad Rotor, or a bad Coil. If it has Coil Packs one or more of them could be bad. Please give us more information in a separate thread.

Thanks for using the forum,
Garner
