Sad car shakes when stopping and taking off
My car's fine when shifting gears, but shakes when slowing down or stopping, also when I take off. I just need to know if it's really the transmission. If it is, is there an urgency for me to take it into a shop or can this be done at home by changing the filter and the fluid. Note: This does NOT happen ALL the time. There are times when my car slows down and takes off with no problem at all. Thanks for your help!! Smile

RE: car shakes when stopping and taking off
This may be a CV joint starting to go bad, which is part of the front axle. There's 2 CV joints on each axle and one axel on each side.

If you know what I am talking about you can do a quick visual inspection. Typically there is exterior damage to the rubber boot that protects each joint and if it's torn / broken you will see the grease leaking out. Another thing to consider is most trany shops will give you a free opinion if you ask nice. At that point you will have more info to help you decide what to do.

Let us know what you find and we can post more about how to deal with this. Also give us the model, mileage, type of trany.
