Wont start even with new battery
Sad
I have a 97 Saturn SC2 with a manual 5spd transmission. I replaced the starter relay after it would not start in November. Was running ok after, but it turned over very slow. Since the temp. dropped here in Michigan into the teens Ive had to jumpstart it. It would not take a jump last night (7degreesF) so I went and bought a new $75 battery. I have full headlights, dashlights, heater motor blowing and door dinger dinging. It still will not start or even attempt to turn over. What could it be now especially since I think I just gave my old battery up for a core charge and spent $75 on one I dont even need.. Thanks

I am such a girl sometimes!!! I had my car neutral and was not engaging my clutch. It started right up once the clutch was fully depressed. Boy do I feel really stupid!! Thanks anyways!

RE: Wont start even with new battery
A quick test would be to observe what happens to the head lights while trying to crank it over. If they go out you may have a bad connection somewhere. If they stay the same it's probably a bad clutch switch or starter. If you can get to the starter you could also check to see if the power is reaching the small wire when you try to crank. If power gets that far then it's the starter.

Let us know what you find and we can chat more.

RE: Wont start even with new battery
When I used to drive a tow truck you wouldn't believe how many calls I went on that was for a "Jump Start" & when I got there I just put the Automatic Transmission in "Park" so it would start. We all make silly mistakes. Glad to hear you solved your problem at no further cost.

Thanks for the Follow Up as so few people take the time to let us know how they made out. Stop by again sometime.

Thanks for using the forum,
Garner
