Question How do you program a NEW remote transmitter?
I got mad last night and launched my keys across the room, now my remote transmitter for my 1999 Alero does not work. I take pictures of cars for a living and was able to get a new remote transmitter that is for GM and looks identical to my original. I am wondering how do I program it to get it to work? If that is not possible how do I get my old one working again?

Thanks!

RE: How do you program a NEW remote transmitter?
The only information I can find says to use the Tech II diagnostic tool for GM vehicles. I do not do too many GM's so others may help you more.

Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds.

RE: How do you program a NEW remote transmitter?
My sources say the same thing for a 99 but it would seem that in 2000 they made it easier. Sorry about that.

If it's possible to be done by the owner it's usually listed in the owner's manual so look there before making a trip to the dealer.

Let us know how you make out.

RE: How do you program a NEW remote transmitter?
I take pictures of cars at lots for a living and asked at the GM lot today, they tested my remote and it is good to go, just needs to be programmed....which they said to look on the internet to figure it out or else I have to pay $35 for them to do it Sad

RE: How do you program a NEW remote transmitter?
Hate to say it but the internet says it's a dealer deal to program.

I could not find a "hack" for that year.
