2003 grand am won't start
It is a 4 cylinder, 120,000 miles, and i live in NW ohio, battery 5+ years old.

My little 2 year old was playing in the car and left the lights on. When I came out to drive it a few hours later the battery was dead and the car wouldn't start. I tried to jump it with my other car and even let it charge for over 30 minutes but no luck. The car would crank but it wouldn't turn over. It did turn over and start twice but it shut down after about two seconds. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what the problem may be. Being it went dead you would think its a bad battery but it seems to be acting fine after I jumped it. Thanks in advance.

An old battery can play tricks on you and make a proper diagnosis almost impossible. What I would do is substitute a known good battery from another car and see if that solves your problem long enough to be sure that's the only issue. If that's the case then all you need is a new battery and tight / clean connections.

Let us know how you make out.
