96 Park Ave 3800-vac lines hanging?
I recently noticed vac lines hanging under the right rear of my Buick. I looked underneath & there is a motor mounted on the passenger side next to the trunk & the vac lines going to it are brittle & broken. Can anyone tell me what this motor is & what function it serves?

RE: 96 Park Ave 3800-vac lines hanging?
I'll admit right up front that I am not familiar with that vehicle. Just a guess on what I've seen on some other vehicles would be that it is a vacuum "canister" used by the emission system. If it is actually a vacuum "motor," only two things come to mind in that location. One would be to raise and lower the radio antenna and another would be to pull the trunk lid shut. However, I have never seen vacuum used for either of those applications. They usually use an electric motor.

Sorry I can't be of more help. If you do figure it out please let us know what it is.

Automatic ride height would use a motor in that location (think air shocks) but I would lean toward an emissions device for the fuel system, expecially if the check engine light is on.
