RE: 2004 Grand Cherokee no TCC engagement
OK, I was reading over the posts & want to take a stab at this one more time.

You said that you just got this vehicle. My guess would be that the last person was having problems, couldn’t figure them out & sold his/her problem to you?

My second guess it that the fluid was burnt so they had the transmission flushed. That is why the fluid looks & smells OK. But, since everything was plugged with Torque Converter Clutch material, they blew out the filter &/or valve body gasket. That is the cause of the bubbles. Checking that trans. in park should just produce an over-full situation, no bubbles.

So if it was mine I would at least drop the pan and have a good look around before pulling the transmission out. You may find something far less expensive than an R&R? Also keep in mind that that transmission takes Chrysler +4 fluid. If you do the R&R I would recommend changing the Torque Converter too.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for using the forum,
Garner
