96' Toyota Tacoma truck will not turn over.
I recently started having problems starting my Toyota Tacoma truck. I first started experiencing problems about -2- months ago when the truck would try to turn over but would suddenly stop cranking and there was a clicking sound. I would turn key back to the off position and then on again and it would start-up fine. This went on for about a week, and then it seemed like my truck fixed itself! No problems whatsoever... Then, last week, things took a turn for the worse. I would turn key to the on position and it would try to turn over for a second than the clicking sound. Sometimes it would start-up, other times I would have to push-start it. Now, it wont turn over at all when its cold. I just get the electronic clicking sound which I presume is the starter solenoid. Yet when the truck is warmed-up it starts fine and thats what troubles me.....Also when its cold the engine turning over really strains the battery to the point it knocks-out the presets in my car stereo. I think my problem is my starter/solenoid but Im not sure, and if I go ahead and buy a starter I wont be able to return it if its not the problem. Does anyone think they know what I should do, and what the problem is?? thank-you

What is the condition of the battery? Sounds like the battery may be a little weak and the cold engine is harder to turn over than when it is warm.

I have experienced the same problem before with my Tacoma truck. I hired a mechanic for the inspection of it and he said that the problem was on the battery of the truck. Way2old has better suggestion that you need to check the condition of your batteries, this might be the main problem.
