sorry about jumping the gun . i for one should know the value of diagnostic order. it was one of my pet peeves when working to have someone jump in with the ah-ha afters hours of studying tedious flow charts. hope all ends well for the poster . i appreciate your input as well anytime.Wink

No problem as it was the perfect complement to my direction.

Not being a big BMW fan I have lost track of which mfg uses what components to control the fan speed these days. Some use a control amplifier, some use relays and some use resistors. Looks like this one has the high blow circuit (relay?) as part of the resistor package, which is why some people in that article mentioned the fan staying on after the key was turned off.

Hello at home got right to work on car. Removed final stage unit. Now I have a question. Is their any way That I can test the final stage unit to see if it is burned out before I purchase a brand new one.

OK, since I'm not familiar with the BMW in particular I'll try to explain it as if I was trying to figure it out myself.

On the plug at the FSU one wire will go to the blower. Look at the blower itself to compare and make note of that.

With an ohm meter test between the blower wire connection of the FSU and the various other terminals and you should get different readings. If anything reads as an open circuit the part is defective.

You can also apply power to the blower manually with a jumper wire just to see if the motor itself is ok. A jumper cable tied to the positive battery and the other end grasping a paper clip might do the trick in a pinch.

It may be that your resistance is fried. replace the rear storage compartment and then download the specifications - check for leaks. This should fix your problem.

Hello, the first time here
For BMW 2002 Cars, we always use BMW GT1 diagnostic tools, that is really works.
Good luck to everybody!

Obviously, the fuse and the motor will be the most easy to test, because the switch in the dashboard was torn before doing other things apart. One host with good access to charts, when it comes to this. Just let us know if you need them.
